When it comes to responsiveness, flexibility is the key word. Having a responsive website is nothing more than creating a layout that automatically fits the user's device.

It seems simple, but it's not. If the main challenge before was making a site render the same way across all browsers, thanks to the popularity of mobile internet, the challenge now is to adapt it to the multitude of sizes and resolutions of smartphones, tablets, laptops, and whatever else may arise. The goal is to increase accessibility by resizing, adapting, or replacing components to fit the screen's needs.

The fact is that no one doubts anymore that mobile devices represent a large part of the access numbers to the web, so having a responsive website is mandatory for those who want to increase traffic.

Cost-benefit

Usually, most development companies already work with this technology and do not charge extra to implement it in website creation.

In terms of statistics, the company Comersite conducted a survey in 2013 with 40 clients from various fields, and the results confirm this growth:

  • On average, 30% of accesses are made through mobile devices.

  • Out of every 10 users who faced difficulty accessing a site on mobile, 4 stated they would not try again, and 7 said they would wait a maximum of 5 seconds for the page to load.

  • The average value of purchases made via mobile exceeds desktop purchases by 13%.

  • More than 15% of transactions on the free market in Latin America are made via mobile devices.

Now think, if 3 years ago the numbers were already so expressive, imagine what they could represent today for your business.

Another advantage of responsiveness is the improvement of user experience and consequently the increase of its relevance in search engines, as Google considers the compatibility of websites with search devices as a ranking factor.

Just as software used to be developed to fit the machine, and today is focused on the human being, responsiveness also emerged to meet the users' need for simpler navigation, with fast loading and discarding unnecessary content.

How to know if your site is responsive?

There are several ways to test the responsiveness of your site.

The simplest way is to access it from a tablet or smartphone and observe the loading.

The WordPress platform has specific layouts for responsiveness, so prefer them.

There are also websites that simulate screen resolutions, such as Responsive Design Checker, in addition to Google itself, which tests compatibility. To test, click here.
