Payment method allows users to make transactions through WhatsApp
In an increasingly instantaneous and digital world, it's crucial to have solutions that streamline your daily routine. With new apps emerging all the time, established ones need to reinvent themselves to stay relevant to their users. This is the case with WhatsApp, which recently implemented WhatsApp Pay, a feature that allows payments and transfers directly through the messaging app.
As we know, Brazilians are true fans of WhatsApp – 54% of smartphones in Brazil have the app installed. In fact, worldwide, more than 2 billion people use the app messaging service owned by Meta. Now, with WhatsApp Pay, users can make transactions (such as money transfers and payments) directly within a chat tab. The goal is to simplify daily routines and offer an additional option for both entrepreneurs and users in general.
The news is that the Central Bank has released the payment feature for purchases made in commercial establishments – and the measure should come into effect in the next few days here in Brazil. Understand better below!

Understand what WhatsApp Pay is
Available to Brazilians since last year, WhatsApp Pay is a feature that allows WhatsApp users to pay directly through the app. The only drawback is that it's not (or wasn't) possible to use a credit card; transactions must be made with a debit or prepaid card. Free of charge, the feature has become popular among Brazilians; after all, paying for a product or service—or even splitting the bar tab with friends—has become as easy as sending a photo.
Getting started with WhatsApp Pay is also very simple. Users simply need to register with one of the participating banks, and then start using the feature, whether sending or receiving money. The app also allows you to check the status of transactions and keep track of the schedule to avoid any surprises along the way.

How to use WhatsApp Pay?
Getting started with the new functionality of the Meta app is simple. Just follow the steps below:
1. Open the WhatsApp application, click on the “Settings” icon and select the “Payments” option
2. You will need to create a PIN to ensure the security of your transactions and provide your personal information.
3. You will need to register a debit or prepaid card, which the app will then verify.
4. Then, simply select the desired contact and enter the amount you wish to pay or request payment.
5. The functionality is also available directly in the conversation tab, just click on the “RS” symbol next to the text box, in the bottom right corner of the screen
Is it safe to use WhatsApp Pay?
According to SerasaUsing WhatsApp Pay is safe, as the app's new feature meets several requirements that provide the peace of mind needed for digital transactions. In addition to requiring a PIN, users can opt for facial recognition to access the payments tab. Data is stored with advanced layers of protection, and encryption provides an additional guarantee of the security of information shared for payments.
However, the Central Bank warns that it's impossible to reverse transactions made through the app, since when making a payment, the amount is deposited directly into the bank account provided by the receiving user. Therefore, it's important to be careful and only make payments to people you know.

You can now pay for purchases at commercial establishments with WhatsApp Pay. Learn how!
Released last March by the Central BankWhatsApp Pay is now available for payments made in commercial establishments using Mastercard and Visa cards, also in the credit function. This new feature is exciting small business owners, as it promises to make it easier tonegotiation in small establishments, such as bars and snack bars.
With WhatsApp Pay enabled for transactions between individuals and businesses, customers can now place an order directly through the messaging app, and the establishment can request payment through the same conversation. This means that delivery drivers don't need to carry a card reader. It's also no longer necessary to send the establishment's PIX code. Everything promises to be much faster and simpler, boosting small businesses.
"Visa believes in the solution's potential to drive inclusion, digitalization, and development for thousands of Brazilian micro, small, and medium-sized businesses and is working to launch the service together with Meta and participating acquirers," Visa said in an official statement.
Here's how it works:

The Central Bank's decision was celebrated by Mark Zuckerberg, who wrote on his Instagram profile: "People will be able to pay small businesses directly on WhatsApp. Looking forward to launching this soon," said the CEO of Meta, which owns the messaging app.
For Guilherme Horn, head of WhatsApp for Latin America, the new feature should have a positive impact on all users, whether individuals or businesses. After all, it's a measure that promises to bring "ease and simplicity to users, while also helping small and medium-sized businesses increase their sales," he said.

So, what do you think of this new feature? Take advantage of WhatsApp's new features to accelerate your business and increase sales!
