Discover the difference between API, Library and Framework

In the age of connectivity, digital marketing has become the best way to win customers and boost business. Traditionally, websites are the cornerstone of an online strategy, but developing them requires investment, time, and, above all, technical knowledge from IT programmers.

To develop IT solutions, you need to have mastery and know how to differentiate some fundamental elements that are part of the process. Some, such as API, Library and Framework, although distinct, are concepts that add up and sometimes get confused, however, they are extremely important for building not only websites, but also software, mobile applications, etc.

API

API, or Application Programming Interface, is software developed to provide an interface with established rules for system integration. It's the documentation that determines how a programmer can perform a task through a library and how their code relates to it.

Library

A library is a set of functions, typically organized into classes, that can be used to build software, simplifying the programming language. There are several library classes, each with different purposes, such as database access, image manipulation, and many others. They are the basis for creating frameworks.

Frameworks

These are development platforms that provide consistent, standard support for building an application and, through programming, allow for the customization of functionalities, making them specific to the application. They can be built using various libraries and integrated with APIs to form an ideal framework for the intended development, and are primarily used for their agility in development.

There are several languages and frameworks on the market, such as JavaScript, Java, HTML, CCS, PHP, Python and Ruby.
