Last month, Instagram announced the launch of its broadcast channels, a public messaging tool that allows a single person to send messages to many others. Designed specifically for content creators, Instagram Channels, as they're called, encourage direct contact between users.
The feature is still in the testing phase and has only been released to invited content creators. However, according to the official statement from the social network, will soon be distributed to more people. Who's already excited? 😛
How does it work?
As we have seen so far, the idea of this channel is to function as a broadcast list, like those that already exist on the WhatsApp and Telegram. In practice, the feature allows content creators to send simultaneous messages to all followers who have opted in to the list. This makes sharing text messages, photos, videos, and even voice messages and polls on Instagram faster and more convenient.

How to create a broadcast list?
Creating a broadcast list is very simple. Of course, the first step is to access the new tool, which is still being rolled out to users. After that, just go to your Instagram inbox and launch your channel. The first message is sent automatically, inviting followers to join the profile owner's channel.

How do I join a broadcast channel?
If you are a user and want to join the broadcast channel of a content creator you follow, just follow the steps below:
1. Access the link to the Instagram Channel (in the sticker shared in the Story, in the pinned link in the bio, or through the notification sent when the creator started their channel).
2. Click “join broadcast channel” – if you don’t already follow the creator, you’ll be invited to follow them to participate.
3. Once you join Instagram Channels, it will appear in your inbox next to message threads.
4. Now you can react to received content, participate in polls, and receive updates firsthand. However, followers can't send messages; only the channel owner can.
5. Whenever the broadcast channel owner shares content, registered users will receive a notification. This can be changed in each user's account settings.
